1st day of school

Today was my babies first day of school...yahoo! Everyone keeps asking me if i'm doing ok and I am doing just fine. Malachi has been looking forward to this day for quite some time. I think his only disapointment is that he isn't riding a bus to school and won't be for a few years. Malachi and I have always had healthy seperations and I think he trusts that mommy would never leave him with somebody crazy. Plus it's nice to have some 1 on 1 time with Boston before #3 gets here... for those of you haven't heard yet we're about 10 weeks along...yahoo! I guess I haven't been on here for a while, i'm trying to come up with what else is new. We made a trip out to Cali last month and if I can get Uncle Rick to send me pics I took on his camera (hint hint) I'll blog about that later. Other than that we're all doing well. Getting this kids to hold still, look at the camera and smile right was near impossible today. He's turned into quite the ham. Boston of course had to be in every pic.The only thing that really worried me was that Boston was going to want to stay at school with them. To my amazement she was ready to go when the time came. I think it helped that the toys weren't out.

They are in for a long road together. This is the 1st of many years to come. I hope they're this cute together in 5 years.

"Magic carpets, I know these." Hopefully he'll learn to put his butt on them and listen.

Malachi and his first teacher, Mrs. Samples. His other teacher is Mrs. Hoberg, I don't know where she was otherwise I would gotten a pic with both.

I'm so grateful these teachers are safety oriented. At the end of the day all the kids come out and sit on this log. The parents are lined up in their cars and Mrs. Samples walks each child to their car one at a time. It takes a bit of time, but it's nice and safe.

4th of July

Independence day was real chill this year. We went to my parents house for some good ole fun the the sun. Below you'll find some entertaining pictures, but none that include any sparklers or fireworks because apparently the kids are deathly afraid of them. Of course it didn't really help that the very first firework lit by my brother Levi exploded right in front of us instead of shooting up the air like it was supposed to. Shards of the explosion actually hit us and I have to admit was a bit nervouse after that too. Malachi was done with being outside at all after that. So the kids stayed inside and watched Happy Feet while we enjoyed the light show on my parents front lawn. My little princess enjoying a rib bone.

Malachi is doing much better with water now that he's had swimming lessons. Last year he wouldn't even get near the slip n slide.

Retirement

So apparentley your only supposed to put like 300 miles on one pair of running shoes. In the back of mind I guess I knew that, but for some reason I think I've put about 1,000 miles on these good ole' addidas that i've ran in now for the past 5 years (could be longer my memories not so good). So I am officially putting these babies to rest, which I feel pretty good about since i've trained for and accomplished my goal of running a 1/2 marathon.
My friend Keith and I ran the Seattle Rock n Roll 1/2 marathon last month and it was much better than I thought it would be. The thought of running 13 miles made me a little nervous, but it wasn't as bad as I thought. I survived, which is always a good sign, had a great time and wasn't even that sore the next day. A full marathon is still not appealing to me, but I'll for sure be a participant in a 1/2 again. It was really nice having the fam there to cheer me on. They were on the street about 1 1/2 miles before the finish line, which was a nice boost for the finish.

Keith and I rushing to the start line for no reason. The race started at 7 a.m. and we were all assigned to corrals. Keith was in corral 7 amd I was in 37, the very last corral. I managed to work my way up to corral 32. It was driving me nuts to have to wait so long and even then I was still an hour behind Keith's start time.

Can you see me? Nope because my corral was all the way in the back and around the corner. There were 25,000 participants.

getting old

I went out with the ladies a few nights ago and had a great time. We went to The Melting Pot for happy hour (great deal BTW-only way i'll ever go back there), I had a whole 2 glasses of sprite and of course some cheese & chocolate fondue. It was great fun, but man I had no idea I was at the stage of falling asleep with my glasses on my face and my mouth hanging wide open. Thanks for taking the picture honey!

Brotherly Love

Today Malachi and I had a conversation that went something like this:
"Mommy can you open this drawer?"
"What for Malachi?"
"I need a spoon."
"Why do you need a spoon Chi?"
"Boston needs a spank."
"Why does Boston need a spank?"
"She spilled the soda outside."
"ummm...since when do we get spanks for spilling and Malachi doesn't spank Boston, only mommy's and daddy's get to spank."
"You go spank Boston mommy for spilling the soda!"
"No baby i'm not spanking Boston for spilling the soda."
"Please"
"No Malachi"
"Okay"

Track & feild

Track season started last week and Malachi was soooo excited, until it was his turn to run. He did a little better than last year. There was no crying and he held my hand as he ran down his lane as opposed to between my legs like last year. He says he wants to do it again this week so we'll see how it goes. Admiring a little high jump.

"Go!" "Come on Chi run to mommy!" I had to run down with Boston on my back to get him and run with him so he could finish the race. Of course everyone in the stadium cheered.

WA...really!

I was talking to Regina today and she informed me that it's been raining non-stop in DC. I can't believe that we have somebody beat with good weather. This is very rare for WA state. We've actually already hit the 80's and even tip toed into the 90's last week....amazing cause it's only June. We deserve it though after the winter we had.
My kids have been keeping me out doors everyday, i'm not complaining because my tan is coming back (yep white in the winter and brown in the summer...best of both worlds!). It also makes for good running weather. I'm still staying determined. The 1/2 marathon is in 16 days and I'm doing a little teaser this weekend (12k) to see how this old body does.
The kids have been managing the heat ok, they're pretty comfy in their birthday suits as you can see, but as for Johnson the complaining has begun ("he no can like it") and has threatened once or twice to buy a AC unit....go ahead man I dare ya! My little helper. This $9 vaccum was the best purchase ever. The kids love getting it out when i'm vaccuming to help and the best part is it really sucks! haha

Nothing like a little ghetto fun. I pretty much refuse to get a kiddie pool until we get our fence up, but I don't really think this bucket looked any better. The important thing is is that she loved it. Notice that our grass is dead already. This is after 1 weekend of heat. I really miss having a sprinkler system.

Popsicles, popsicles, popsicles. I swear these kids would live off of them right now.

Man I didn't realize how rough Boston looked right then or else I wouldn't of taken the picture, but I guess her roughness is how she managed to take over her brothers bike.

These 3 three year olds (Malachi, Scarlett & Titus) are running our street. Seriously, it seems like the 3 of them have all the older kids wrapped around their little fingers.

Cookies

My neighbor Andee thinks I have great patience because I let the kids cook all the time. Little does she know that I can be a little controlling at times and the kids know my 'rules'. Today the kids made no bake cookies. It entailed the usual ingredients and techniques with a little extra from Scars and Chi. As you can tell Scarlett used her fingers and Chi used his tongue to properly mix the butter and peanut butter in. At one point Scars thought that she would taste the unsweetened cocoa and got a nice suprise, which naturally made her spit it out into the mix....yummy! You gotta love cookies made with love.

Bloggers Block

So I've had a bit of block as to what to write or report or journal lately. Mostly, because I've been sucked into the Twilight series (thanks Sharlene, Nicole and Jamie) combined with some laziness. Whatever. I can't believe that i'm feeling guilty for not having an entry in the last few weeks. I hate trends like these just for this reason.
Well I wanted to share with you some photo's from our very own family photographer...Malachi. He loves taking pictures and has almost broken the camera several times, but it's just a material thing and can be replaced. He's having fun and I've seen more expensive toys than my camera (sorry Rick I know it was a gift from you). He really likes candids and there would be more of Johnson, but he never seems to have a shirt on around the house.

I know this one is blurry, but I love that it's centered. We were having fun playing in the rain this day. It was warm and there were bizarre down poors that we hardly ever see. It made for great puddle splashing & stomping.

Malachi didn't take this one, obviously. I just love coordinating sundays when everyone is wearing the same color. I know it's cheesy but I love it.

a complete mess in one second. Typical Boston having her afternoon chocolate fix.

I was a little worried at first that she was being heavily influenced by her brothers toys, but she's recently started finding her girly side. She loves carrying around her little purses and bags right on her elbow of all places. It's pretty cute when you combine it with the switch of her diaper strut.

So there now I don't feel so guilty.

Easy Fix!

The weather this week hasn't been the greatest and the kids have been bored. So I tried some things out and thought I would share them. Unfortunately or fortunately (depends on your attitude i guess) we have to get a little creative in WA because it rains most days around here. We spent a good hour playing hide n seek Monday. The kids usually tell me where their hiding, but they managed to pick some good spots this day without letting me know. At one point I was able to keep the girls quiet enough that Malachi couldn't find us for like 5 minutes.

Well she wasn't so much bored as she was hungry in this one. She's my eater and she tried really hard to get all 3 cupcakes in hand.

ahhh...here's an idea that I love and probably a little late on learning. Banana popsicle. This was a great treat for her, especially since she's teething. My only recommendation would be to put an actual popsicle stick in the end before you freeze it.

This was just my rock star in the a.m. I love having a child who begs to go to bed. I got really lucky with her. The night before she had a bath and then immediately wanted to get into bed, which made for great rock star hair the next day.

Idea #3- let them splash around in the kitchen sink. Easy clean-up in my opinion. For Bos I just stripped her down and let her have at it. Malachi and Scarlett loved being able to get her and their sleeves wet.

There you have it my boredom ideas for this week. One day I'll get the "boredom jar" I made last year out for more ideas. For now I'll just follow the kids lead.
